Academic Council

Overview

The Academic Council is the highest academic authority at the University, delegated with overseeing and maintaining standards in instruction, scholarship, research, and examinations. It has the authority to advise the Board on academic matters, regulate the admission of students to courses and examinations, and propose the creation and organization of Faculties, Teaching Departments, Institutes, and Boards of Studies. The Council is also responsible for planning and developing teaching and research initiatives within the University. Additionally, it has the power to make regulations on course content and syllabi for all University examinations, based on recommendations from the Board of Faculties and Boards of Studies. If such recommendations are delayed, the Council may continue the existing courses with Board approval. The Council can recognize examinations from other universities or examining bodies as equivalent to the University’s own. It is also authorized to frame regulations for submission to the Board and to perform other functions as outlined by the statutes
